Jade has been cherished in China for thousands of years; associated with clarity of mind and purity of spirit. The ancient Chinese believed that they could communicate with various deities through possessing it.
In Central America, the Mayans and the Aztecs prized jade as well. They used it for medicinal purposes, jewelry, ornaments, and religious artifacts.
